Hola Mexico Film Festival 2012
The Hola Mexico Film Festival says adios cliches in its seventh edition.
One of the best film events on the Adelaide cultural calendar, the Hola Mexico Film Festival is an opportunity to let your hair down, Mexican style and embrace, celebrate and question all that is Mexico. Combining family friendly films with fiestas, dramas and documentaries in an entertaining, informative and fun week of film, Hola Mexico is a six day trip to one of the world’s richest cultures for all armchairs travellers.
Hola Mexico starts with a bang with the SOL Opening Night Fiesta on Friday 9 November, with Sol Beer and Milagro Tequila, burritos courtesy BURP Hindley Street, entertainment from DJ NAT LA BOMBA and the Adelaide premiere of Mariachi Gringo (Tom Gustafson, 2012) starring X-Men’s Shawn Ashmore and featuring the beautiful music of the acclaimed mariachi singer Lila Downs.
Come enjoy some Sol Beers in between films on Sunday 11 November with live music from local band Zambra Latina and screenings of Barely Passing (Juan Carlos Rulfo & Carlos Loret De Mol, 2012) a startling documentary about the Mexican education system, and Richness of Internal Space (Kai Parlange, 2012), winner of Best Actor and Best First Film at Guadalajara Film Festival. Based on true events, Richness of Internal Space is testimony to one man’s will to live and unbreakable spirit that allow him to survive after being kidnapped and isolated from the world.
