BLUE VELVET

BLUE VELVET

Jeffrey Beaumont’s discovery of a severed ear leads him into a perverse underworld of sadomasochism, kidnapping and small-town strangeness of they style only Lynch can conjure. Rossellini’s tragically beautiful performance as nightclub chanteuse Dorothy Vallens is enigmatic. She is both the calm eye and possible cause of the storm of violence that erupts around her as Beaumont (Kyle MacLachlan) and the monstrous Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper) clash. Dreamlike and disturbing, this is Lynch at the peak of his narrative powers.
