THE COUNTRY GIRL

THE COUNTRY GIRL

A washed up stage actor and singer (Bing Crosby) lands the lead in a new Broadway production – hoping to revitalise his career, while his embittered wife (Kelly) barely endures his demanding behaviour and both try to hide past tragedies. Misunderstandings and crossed romantic allegiances are inevitable as everybody struggles to gain their own modicum of self-respect. Kelly famously dropped her glamorous persona, portraying a woman aged well beyond her years (she was only 25 at the time of filming), and took home an Oscar for her efforts.
