Hollywood is a nasty place, and nobody knows that better than studio executive Griffin Mill (Tim Robbins). He’s in charge of deciding which films get made and which get binned, which is probably why somebody is threatening to kill him. Mill’s efforts to save his wrinkle-proofed skin, get the girl and make a successful product is the stuff good comedy and drama are made of. Altman applied his own formula of ensemble casts, cameos and overlapping dialogue for his “very mild satire” on Hollywood, and ironically found himself back in favour after a decade on the outer.
