The tragedy of Hamlet

The tragedy of Hamlet

Having staged Hamlet countless times over his career,  when Brook was given the opportunity to develop it for film in 2002, the results were compelling, innovative and beautifully executed, with many critics feeling like they were experiencing the well-known text for the first time. While there are no changes to the script, Brook cuts dialogue, scenes and peripheral characters, focusing on the main plot and players with very compelling results.
