 THE TREASURE OF SIERRA MADRE

"In the late 60s while lecturing at the SA school of Art I became interested in the making of prints by the silk screen process. I began a series on a theme of Eldorado. Thirteen in number, the works were shown at the Llewellyn Galleries in November 1972. The complete set will be shown in my Retrospective at the Samstag Museum July – September. One of the prints shows the titles of films dealing with gold mining."

When two American workers in Mexico (Bogart and Holt) find themselves cheated out of wages and broke, they’re more than happy to follow a grizzled old prospector into the mountains to search for gold. When they finally strike it rich, there’s no celebration, rather mistrust, paranoia and the threat of violence descend on their camp.
