THE WICKER MAN – THE FINAL CUT

THE WICKER MAN – THE FINAL CUT

Labelled as “the Citizen Kane of horror movies”, this version of the 1973 classic restores the original film (not to be confused with the 2006 Nicholas Cage remake – the movie that spawned 1000 memes) to director Robin Hardy’s vision with thoughtful and terrifying effect. The disappearance of a young girl on the remote island of Summerisle sees Sergeant Neil Howie (Edward Woodward) sent to investigate. What he finds is an agrarian community overseen by the enigmatic Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee in what he considers his finest role) and deeply connected to the old gods. Howie’s devout Christianity puts him at odds with the pagan islanders as his investigation uncovers the much darker secret of Summerisle.
