LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN

LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN

Wasn’t there a song called ‘My Heart Belongs to Daddy’? This may well be the sicko film version. A wonderful no -punches -pulled melodrama about a driven woman obsessed with her dead father. She chooses her husband because of his resemblance to Daddy, then proceeds to pathologically demand a love from him which no man could deliver, and in various fits of pique, disposes violently of anybody else that might lay claim to his affections, including their own child.  Oh yes, a beautiful, elegant and nasty piece of work rendered exquisitely in glorious, lush Technicolour. Awarded the 1946 Oscar for Cinematography.
