HERZOG: Stroszek

HERZOG: Stroszek

An alcoholic man with many mental instabilities is freshly released from a prison in Berlin. He decides to move to the US with his elderly friend and a prostitute in search of a better life. Bruno S. was originally going to star as the titular character in Woyzeck, but several days before production Werner changed his mind and decided that Woyzeck should be portrayed by Klaus Kinski. Bruno had already taken leave from his job, so to make it up to Werner wrote Stroszek in 3 ½ days. It’s no coincidence that they have similar names.
