Presented in partnership with the Adelaide Film Festival

“Cate Blanchett is the movie's jewel… Her Dylan is intelligent, confident, artificial in the best sense: a strong contender for the big awards, and a good reason to see the film.” -  The Guardian

Before Carol, Cate and Todd Haynes collaborated on this Bob Dylan tribute – with Cate as Bob!

Bob Dylan has always contained multitudes. The only thing that is constant about the man and his music is that both keep changing, forever elusive. We all have our own Bob Dylan, but Todd Haynes has six, or rather six characters who represent aspects of his personality. At various time Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Richard Gere among others are Dylan’s Woody Guthrie wannabe side, his elusive traitor to folk, his born-again Christian, his aged gunfighter outlaw. Find your personal Dylan here. And don’t forget that Cate Blanchett’s Jude Quinn marked her first collaboration with Haynes, laying the groundwork for Carol, one of the key features of our main program.

This film is part of Adelaide Cinematheque, entry by membership. Memberships start from $40 for a 4-session membership.
