March – June 2020

The Adelaide Cinémathèque is curated by Alex McKenzie and Ryder Grindle.

Everything is connected.

“Pull a thread here and you’ll find it’s attached to the rest of the world.” ― Nadeem Aslam, The Wasted Vigil

No story stands alone, nor does any film come into existence without a tangled web of progenitors and influences. As our world becomes increasingly interconnected, we thought it only fitting that the 2020 Adelaide Cinémathèque program better reflect our hyperlinked reality.

Rather than a collection of individually themed sets, we present films which overlap and coexist, curating so as each series relates to another, and thematic and formal connections can be drawn throughout. While providing notes on these relationships, we hope the audience can discover many more, to draw and discuss their own parallels; once it leaves our hands, it belongs to you. Enjoy.
