On Friday 30th August SBS TV film presenter Sandy George will launch season two of Seniors on Screen. Among many other film related things, Sandy regularly chairs panel discussions and master classes, is invited onto film festival juries and lectures on pitching, screen culture and the business of film.

The opening film is the SA premiere of Stories We Tell by Canadian director Sarah Polley. Stories We Tell bowled over critics at Sundance and Venice Film Festival and won Canada's Film of the Year award. Polley was eleven when her mother died and she left questions unanswered. Using actual Super-8 home-movie footage, faux home movies and genuine archival material as well as interviews with family members and friends, the film is a portrait of a marriage in crisis - her parent's. Polley tackles painful issues honestly and tactfully and she has a gripping story to tell. Stories We Tell raises important questions about the reliability of memory and history. The Seniors on Screen programme continues until December and contains the best titles from the Sydney and Melbourne film festivals as well as selected highlights from the OzAsia On Screen programme. And the best part? Our films are still $6! We will also have a range of our popular workshops to choose from. New programme in it's entirety will be out very soon so watch this space!
